Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Vietgo app (the “App”) handles your data. The short version: Vietgo is a fully offline Vietnamese learning app. It has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no server. Nothing you do in the App is collected, transmitted or shared with anyone.

The key point

Because the App does not collect personal data, Ruminski Labs OÜ does not act as a data controller for anything you do inside it.

Vietgo makes no network requests of any kind, including to us. It works identically in airplane mode, from first launch. Everything you create — lists, favourites, review schedules, streak and progress — is written to a database on your own device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.

The App is published by Ruminski Labs OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia, at Sepapaja tn 6, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia. Because the App does not collect personal data, we do not act as a data controller for anything you do inside it. Privacy contact: contact@ruminskilabs.com.

Everything the App needs is bundled with it or created by you on your device:

  • Dictionary, stories, grammar and phrases: shipped inside the App and read from local storage.
  • Word lists, folders and favourites: created by you and saved in a local database on your device.
  • Test progress and spaced-repetition schedules: saved locally so the App can plan your reviews.
  • Streak, XP, rank and activity history: computed and saved locally.
  • Settings: your level, theme, text size, accent, chosen voice and reminder times are saved in the operating system’s own preferences store (SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS).

Concretely, the App keeps two SQLite files. vietgo_user.db holds everything you create: lists, folders, favourites, spaced-repetition schedules, search history, streak, XP and activity. The second is the bundled dictionary, unpacked read-only from the App’s own assets on first launch; it contains no personal data, and rebuilding it after an update never touches vietgo_user.db.

None of this data leaves your device. It is not backed up by us, not synced and not visible to us. Uninstalling the App or clearing its storage deletes it permanently. Your operating system’s own device backup (for example a phone backup to your Google or Apple account) may include the App’s data; that is controlled by your device settings, not by the App.

  • No network requests: the App never connects to a server, including ours. It works identically in airplane mode.
  • No accounts: there is no sign-up, login or profile, and we do not receive your email address or name.
  • No analytics or crash reporting: we do not measure how you use the App and do not receive error reports.
  • No advertising or tracking: there are no ads, ad identifiers, tracking SDKs or third-party analytics.
  • No purchases: the App is free, with nothing to buy inside it.

A few features hand off to other apps on your device, only when you tap them:

  • Send feedback opens your mail app with a draft addressed to contact@ruminskilabs.com. The email is sent by your mail app, not by Vietgo, and only if you choose to send it. Anything you write to us is used solely to answer you and improve the App.
  • Share opens your device’s share sheet with a short text about the App.
  • Export list hands a file to the app you pick.
  • Study reminders are scheduled by the App on your device using the operating system’s local notification service; no reminder data is sent anywhere.
  • Audio is produced by the text-to-speech engine installed on your device. Its behaviour is governed by that engine’s own privacy policy.

You install and update Vietgo through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Those stores may collect information about downloads and crashes under their own privacy policies; we receive at most aggregated, anonymous store statistics from them and cannot identify you.

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data. Because Vietgo stores everything only on your device and sends nothing to us, you exercise these rights directly: your data is already in your hands, and deleting the App deletes it. If you have emailed us, you can ask us at contact@ruminskilabs.com to delete that correspondence at any time.

Vietgo is suitable for users of all ages. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. If a child emails us, we use that message only to reply and delete it on request.

If a future version of Vietgo ever processes data differently, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version is released. We encourage you to review it after updates.
